You can think of many reasons why you like to play Scrabble. It is a mental exercise, a social game, a vocabulary challenge but most people play it because it is a sober past time. Facing the seven tiles and the board with stars you work through challenges in a calm and reasoned fashion. You will tend to forget other concerns and focus on defeating your opponents. It is also considered a pleasant stimulant.

Challenges of a Scrabble Game

When you play this game, what do you usually feel? Are you thrilled, challenged, excited? Perhaps, you would say that it is very challenging to form a word of seven letters that will get the highest score. There may just be 26 letters in the alphabet but there are more than 470, 000 entries in Webster's Third New International Dictionary and The Oxford English Dictionary, Second Edition. You could think of 171476 common words and 47 156 obsolete words plus 9500 derivatives that you must have not yet encountered. When you play scrabble, you've got to have a dictionary at your side because you might find the word "bibble" and "firman" wrong. Bibble and firman are just one of the top  20 weird English words.

Another challenge that you would face when you play scrabble is where to place the tiles at the certain time. You've got to take your time, think carefully and you must have a plan. You take turns and three words from your opponents can ruin your game plan. Also, count the letters that have been revealed. Remember that there are just a few tiles for each letter: A-9 times , B -2, C-2, D -4, E-12, F-2, G = 3, H-2 and I-9 times. Other letters appearance frequency is K-1, L-4, M-2 N-6 and O-8 times. And the points vary per letter: 0 Points - Blank tile. 1 Point - A, E, I, L, N, O, R, S, T and U. 2 Points - D and G. 3 Points - B, C, M and P. 4 Points - F, H, V, W and Y. 5 Points - K. 8 Points - J and X. 10 Points

On the other hand, there are word finders online, in which you practice your scrabble skills. You can pretend what letter tiles you will get. It is like a simulator wherein you can pick the letters of your choice and the board will tell you where you must put it. It is like a little "cheat sheet" to win the game. But it will certainly add words to your vocabulary.
